LES CANADIENNES ACQUIRE EMERANCE MASCHEMEYER FROM CALGARY INFERNO

Les Canadiennes de Montréal have acquired goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer from the Calgary Inferno, General Manager Meg Hewings announced today.

The transaction completes the trade that sent forward Haley Irwin to Calgary in 2014.

“Emerance Maschmeyer is one of the world’s most promising young goalies and a respected teammate. After a breakout performance for Canada at the 2016 IIHF World Championship, a storied university career with the Harvard Crimson, and an impressive performance in her rookie CWHL season with the Calgary Inferno, we’re thrilled to welcome her to Les Canadiennes next season,” said Hewings.

Maschmeyer appeared in eight games with the Inferno in 2016-17, posting a 5-3 record including two shutouts, a 1.49 goals-against average and .946 save percentage.

Les Canadiennes have also acquired defencemen Maggie DiMasi (Burlington, VT) and Nachi Fujimoto (Sapporo, Japan) from the Boston Blades in exchange for sixth and seventh round draft picks (year to be determined).

“Maggie DiMasi and Nachi Fujimoto will add stability to our defensive unit, having both gained invaluable experience in their rookie seasons with the Blades,” Hewings said.

Montreal has also traded defenceman Brittney Fouracres to the Inferno for future considerations.

Forward Leslie Oles has been released to play in Europe.
