LES CANADIENNES OPEN SEASON AGAINST CALGARY INFERNO

Montreal, QC (Oct. 9, 2018) – Les Canadiennes are set to begin the 2018-19 season this weekend with two games against the Calgary Inferno on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 6:30pm and Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1pm at Place Bell.

It will be a historic weekend for Les Canadiennes as the team plays their first games at Place Bell. Saturday’s match-up is part of an exciting double-header with the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket. The Rocket face the Binghamton Devils at 3:00pm, while Les Canadiennes take to the ice at 6:30pm.

Les Canadiennes won all four battles against the Inferno last season, and boast a lineup featuring six Olympians, and several returning all-star players. Super stars Marie-Philip Poulin and Hilary Knight will don the Canadiennes jersey for the first time as teammates, while 2017 top draft pick Mélodie Daoust will make her regular season debut in Les Canadiennes’ uniform. Jillian Saulnier and Geneviève Lacasse will face their former team for the first time since being traded to Montreal during the off-season. Many rookies, including young defenses Taylor Willard (University of Vermont) and Catherine Daoust (University of Minnesota Duluth), will play their first CWHL games.

The Inferno boast an exciting lineup that features nine Olympians from four nations: Brigette Lacquette, Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnston, Blayre Turnbull from Canada, Kacey Bellamy, Brianna Decker and Alex Rigsby from the USA, Aina Takeuchi from Japan, and Venla Hovi from Finland.

Season tickets are on sale for $162.50 – a $32.50 discount over the single game price of $15 –– and can be purchased by visiting Les Canadiennes’ website. In its twelfth season, the CWHL will count six competitive teams, including one team in China, the Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays.
